Patch Notes Review for 5.02

As week three of pts coming along, EU Server gets it's Character copy and the next major combat patch comes out. While some left with disappointment in their hearts, after reading this patch, for healers the changes looked good.

  • Restoring Aura: Removed the cost from this ability and the Radiant Aura morph, and increased the duration to 20 seconds at max rank. This was done to put it in the same category as other abilities, such as Weakness to Elements.

  • Mark Target: Removed the cost from this ability and its morphs. This was done to make it more comparable to abilities, such as Weakness to Elements, that only apply a debuff to their target.

The changes are a great improvement for class identity or Class Spirit as ZOS Coins it. For healers,  this change will give them options to use instead of weakness to elements to support allies. Though mind you it's not the same skill, but something different.

The Templar changes for Restoring Aura while it doesn't provide the debuff for resistances it gives Templar extra magicka regain and for allies it offers only aoe magicka steal. This help allies sustain in large trash pulls over elemental that only allows one ally per cast. Still the concern that has long existed with this skill has been lack of resistance debuff, but with necromancer it changes things. The necromancer class allows for aoe debuff of resistances, which means in such cases elemental drain would be unnecessary and aoe magicka steal more needed.

The nightblade one while without the magicka steal, and ability to ally it to multiple enemies it offers not just one debuff to resistances, but for both stamina and magicka. If used on on enemy being prioritized by the dps, then it will provide interesting gameplay for the nightblade healer.

These are only the latest  news for healers, but theses so far look really exciting for future. Some classes will be able to move away from resto staff skill line as main support. In turn, the classes will  feel more spirit, and individuality in their playstle. As such, while things aren't perfect, we get closer to vision as play as you want for healers in Elsweyr.
